Current Issues

Pending Legislation

  • HB1432: Adds eating disorders to the list of diagnoses currently covered by parity  mandates
  • HB 1612 provides for additional mental health services in rural communities
  • HB 4746 increases funding for mental health services for veterans
  • HB 5761 reallocates money within the Community Mental Health Fund and prevents what are called sweeps, otherwise known as use it or loose it policies
  • HB 5574 permits the Department of Mental Health to share clinical records with private hospitals. Additionally, an amendment to this bill changes PA 95-0602, which lowered the involuntary commitment standard, by defining dangerous conduct

Inactive Legislation
The following bills have become inactive for failing to emerge from committee:
  • HB755: Requires Medicaid to reimburse for substance abuse services
  • HB 4663 would have funded treatment for compulsive gamblers
  • HB 5346 would have required bills affecting community mental health services to include fiscal impact notes

Children's Mental Health Partnership and Tinley Park Hospital
